Kerala Schools to Remain Open on Muharram – No Holiday on July 8

In a recent announcement, the Kerala state government has confirmed that there will be no holiday for schools on Muharram, which falls on Monday, July 8, 2025.

While many Indian states observe Muharram as a public holiday, Kerala schools will remain open, and regular classes will take place as per schedule. The decision is based on the official academic calendar, which does not include Muharram as a holiday this year.

This move has sparked discussions among parents and religious groups, but the General Education Department has not issued any change or revision so far.

Students and parents are advised to follow the existing school schedule unless further notice is issued by the authorities.
