Bengaluru Doctor Tries to Hijack Air India Flight Over Luggage Fight!
BENGALURU, June 20, 2025 – A 36-year-old Bengaluru-based doctor, Dr Vyas Hiral Mohanbhai, was removed from an Air India Express flight bound for Surat after allegedly threatening to crash the aircraft during an altercation with cabin crew, authorities said .
Incident Details
The doctor boarded flight IX 2749 at Kempegowda International Airport carrying two bags, bypassing the check-in counter. She placed one bag near the crew cabin and demanded crew members carry it to her seat in 20F .
When crew asked her to stow the bag properly, she allegedly became abusive and shouted threats, declaring she would "crash the plane" if her baggage was touched .
Despite efforts by the cabin crew and the pilot to calm her, she refused to comply .
Security Response & Charges
Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel were called in and escorted her off the flight, delaying departure by approximately two hours .
Police have registered an FIR under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to criminal intimidation and public mischief, as well as under the Suppression of Unlawful Acts Against Safety of Civil Aviation Act .
Aftermath
The doctor reportedly remained aggressive at the airport police station, allegedly abusing and assaulting officers. Her husband confirmed she had stopped practising medicine and was traveling to visit family .
Investigations are ongoing. This incident comes shortly after the fatal crash of Air India flight AI 171, which killed 241 people onboard and approximately 30 on the ground .
